Draw Ceremony—Yaoundé, Cameroon
The draw ceremony of the 2021 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which took place at the Yaoundé Conference Centre celebrated Africa through its cultural performances.
It was chiefly a successive showcase of Cameroon’s cultural diversity brought to stage by dance and musical performances.
Cameroonian music star Salatiel produced a strong opening performance that gave the green light for the show. Next as concerns the cultural aspect of this ceremony was a spectacular demonstration of the cultural diversity of the host nation also portraying the country’s unity and indivisible nature.
After a stunning performance from the talented freestyler performer Iya Traoré, the anthem of the competition « Fous de Foot » was equally performed at the end of the ceremony.
The show felt big, vibrant, energetic and innovative yet still authentic to football.
The welcome drink and the cocktail dinner were an opportunity to show the local know-how by highlighting the country's heritage, whether artistic, decorative or culinary.
African and international stations using the codes and decoration so typical of Yaoundé markets have highlighted the strength of the local expertise when serving a global challenge.
