The Opening Ceremony of the African Games in Accra unfolded as a symbolic journey across Ghana’s regions, celebrating the country’s cultural and ethnic diversity with a blend of tradition and modernity. From hand-painted pirogues and real fishermen to 3D anamorphic fauna from Mole Park, each tableau brought Ghana’s landscapes and legends to life — including the iconic Spider God, Anansi. A monumental 360° scenography built around a six-meter LED cube and a luminous catwalk inspired by Kente weaving created an immersive experience for the entire stadium. The ceremony reached its emotional peak with the reunion of Highlife legends Pat Thomas and Ebo Taylor, performing together for the first time in 43 years, a moment linking generations and honoring Ghana’s enduring artistic legacy.
